Living with noticeable hair loss is no longer to be expected due to the incredible developments that have been made in the treatment of men’s hair loss. With the introduction of Propecia, generic name Finasteride, it is now possible to stop or slow down the progression of hair loss in the majority of men who use it.
Fifty percent of all men experience male-patterned baldness; the most common type of hair loss beginning around the age of thirty.
It generally starts as a receding hairline; a thinning of hair on the crown and temples; resulting in a U-shape pattern around the head. In some rare cases, a male may end up completely bald.
The condition is genetic; caused by an abundance of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes the hair follicles to become weak and eventually inactive, resulting in a lack of hair re-growth. This process can take decades, so if you have experienced rapid hair loss (under a year) or scalp irritation causing bald patches, you should seek medical advice from your GP to ensure there are no underlying thyroid conditions or other reasons for the condition.
One of the most effective treatments for general hair loss is finasteride, which prevents further hair loss and increases hair growth.

Propecia is the brand name for finasteride, the active ingredient in the medication. This medication blocks the action of the 5α-reductase enzyme, which is responsible for the production of DHT. By blocking the production of DHT, finasteride allows the hair follicles to become more active, allowing more hair to begrowth and, in some cases, to even grow a receding hairline. This helps to maintain a healthy hair growth cycle and allows for more hair to grow.
One of the advantages of using Propecia is that it is taken once daily, which allows for easy administration and ease of use. Hi all,
Thanks for the response,
I have been prescribed 5 mg of finasteride for hair loss for my first two years of using it. I noticed my scalp was much healthier and much more sensitive to the drug. I noticed a slight improvement, but not noticeable for a few months. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with hair loss after using it?
March 3, 2008, 12:28pm3Hi all
Hi everyone!
I've been on finasteride for 5 years now. It's been my first medication for years. My hair was thinning and became brittle. I was on 5 mg (3ml) once a day. When I started taking it I stopped feeling the effects. I was able to get a little thicker. I have 3/4 hairs on my front and 2 on my back. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with this? I'll be honest though:
Thanks for your thoughts. I've been using the drug for a couple of years and have noticed a slight improvement from my first dose. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced hair loss after taking finasteride?
I've been using finasteride for a couple of years now and noticed a slight improvement. I was able to get a little thicker and have a bit thicker hair overall. The problem is, I was able to get a little thicker and not notice it for a few months.
Thanks for your help. I've been using it for the past several years. I started taking finasteride for a couple of years. I noticed a slight improvement, and started losing some hair. I started losing my hair in the summer when I started the medicine. My hair looks better the next day. The problem is, I was able to get a bit thicker and not notice a thing at all. The problem is that I have a slightly smaller head, so my hair is thinner on the top of the head, but not on the front. I would be concerned that my hair may have become brittle. I'm not sure if it is a problem with my hair loss but I am worried about it. I'm currently using it every other day, but if I do need to continue with it for a few months, I will be fine.
I have been using finasteride for a couple of years. I've started using it for my hair loss about once a week. I've noticed my hair loss started a few months after my first dose. It's been very minor but I've noticed it stopped. I started noticing my hair grow back a few weeks after I started the medication. I've noticed my hair has more density. I'm now looking into trying to grow my own hair again. I have a lot of shedding and I've also found that I can't stop growing new hair because it doesn't go away. I am worried about it! Thanks for any advice and have a great week!
March 3, 2008, 1:56amI have been using finasteride for 5 years now and have noticed a slight improvement. I've started taking it for 3 years now. My hair has been fine, but my hair was thinning and I had to stop taking it. I am very concerned about this as it has been caused by the medication. I have a couple of my old hairs now and the problem is that my hair has grown back much thinner and thinner and not getting any more hair. I was able to get a little thicker and not notice the change in the hair, but not notice the hair growth. I have a few of my smaller hairs now and the hair has gone back to its normal size. I am concerned that I may have a problem with my hair loss. I have had a few hair growth issues since I was on 5 years ago and it has made me very concerned about my hair loss. I would like to keep an eye on my hair growth issues, and if anyone has any thoughts on this, I would love to hear if there is an alternative treatment that is better.
